We are seeing a dramatic increase in the severity of the food allergies in our pediatric patients. We have children that are showing up at our office covered in rashes and/or hives. These are of course the more extreme examples of how food allergies present. Parents need to know that your child does not have to be covered in a rash to have a food issue. Most children actually have more chronic problems like stomach aches, ear infections, eczema, headaches, runny noses, etc.  A wonderful book we highly recommend for any parent who has an allergy child is “The Unhealthy Truth”. Great book that does a truly wonderful job of educating people on this dramatic increase in food allergies and sensitivities (not only our children but also in the adult population).
